Spoilers

The Spoiler is a patented invention by Santy Runyon. It adds volume and brightness to the mouthpiece. Spoilers consist of a wedge which creates a higher baffle giving the mouthpiece a brighter more cutting sound. Attached to the wedge is a small metal "reed" which actually vibrates when air is blown into the mouthpiece.

The vibrating metal reed splits the air stream, creating more complex harmonics resulting in more volume. The spoiler slips into the mouthpiece with ease. Having a spoiler is like having two mouthpieces in one. Some people use it all of the time and some people use it strategically, just when they need more volume or cut.
